How to choose a Slat Cleaner based on the internal Structure

Comparison of the two types of laser slat cleaners

· Laser slat cleaner

How to choose a right slat cleaner for your laser cutting machines? Sometimes it's not so complex. .In fact, as long as you dismantle the machine and clearly see the internal structure, you can easily judge why some slat cleaners are so cheap while others are relatively expensive. Whether the
price is cheap or expensive, you must first compare the performance. It seems cheap while low performance, but you need to buy it many times. On the contrary, if it seems a bit expensive in original price while high performance, just buy it once!

Based on the different power transmission structures, we define the laser slat cleaner currently on the market into two types:

1. Spring vibration type (e.g. Fig. 1): tipically use two Springs to drive the cleaning cutters. Can only get simple Open-Close motions.
2.Gear transmission type (e.g. Fig. 2) , LISEN’s LSC 200 slat cleaner and TRUMPF’s TSC 100 slat cleaner both use this structure. Using precision gear box to achieve Open-Down-Close-UP cycle motions to get the best slag-cleaning results.

The subsequent comparison will be explained with LISEN LSC 200 slat cleaner.Let us make a comparison in terms of motor performance, power transmission method, cleaning tool type and actual slag cleaning effect.

1. Motor performance and power transmission method

MOTOR of Spring-type slat cleaner and LISEN premium slat cleaner

Spring-type Slat Cleaner: The spring vibration type laser slat cleaner uses the motor used in ordinary grinding machines on the market. It has only low power (usually less than 1600W), weak power and unstable power transmission. Easily from the photo, its size is smaller than LISEN motor. It is easy to burn the motor due to overload. USe helical gear to transmit power. When cleaning thick & stubborn slag, especially on high-power fiber lasers, easily stuck & overstalled.

LISEN Slat Cleaner:

1. World's First to Introduce a 2300W Motor in Slat Cleaners
LISEN set a new industry benchmark by launching the first slat cleaner with a 2300W high-torque motor, specifically engineered to handle the toughest slag on high-power fiber laser machines (6kW and above).

2. LISEN is the first in the industry to combine the motor, drive shaft, and gear wheel with a dual keyway into one high-strength integrated assembly. This design Motor-Shaft-gear wheel Assembly provides:

  • Zero Power Loss – Direct, efficient torque transmission from motor to gear with no backlash.
  • Dual Keyway Structure – Reinforced locking prevents slippage or shearing under heavy load.
  • Superior Durability – Handles the extreme force required to break and remove hardened slag from high-power laser cutting.
  • Spur gear- Using the spur gears to replace helical gears to bear much higher force & high durability.
  • Simplified Maintenance
Power transmission of Spring-type slat cleaner & premium LISEN slat cleaner

As for power transmission, the spring-type slat cleaner control the movements with only two simple tension spring structures, the vibration amplitude is very large and difficult to operate. Springs are often prone to breakage; Cutters replacement is complicated and difficult, need open the whole machine & a disposable goods. The clamping strength is not enough, it is difficult to pull and move, the slag cleaning is incomplete and the cleaning efficiency is low. The life of the whole machine is short. Refer to the damage in the photo below:

As for the gear transmission type LISEN LSC 200 laser slat cleaner, to get high performance in high-power fiber lasers, use the premium spare parts

  • Advanced Gear & LubricationSystem
    - Spur gears (instead of helical gears)are used to handle high force, increasing durability and stability.
-High-quality lubricating grease withstands 300°C , preventing wear and ensuring long-termperformance.
  • Versatile & Smart Design for Various Slats
    - Automatically adapts to differentslat thicknesses, eliminating the need for multiple tools.
    - Works on warped or non-straight slats, unlike many competitors that require straight slats.
    - Can work by pulling or pushing, giving more flexibility in cleaning operations. Also, easy to get continous cleaning & switch to the next slat.

All of these allow the LISEN slat cleaner to handle the thick and hard slag produced by high-power fiber lasers, especially 6KW and above & up to 30KW.

2. Cleaning tool type

Compared with the commonly used alloy casting cutter of the spring vibration type , LISEN cleaning tool is made of special steel with a specific heat treatment process. The uniquely designed three-sided cutting edge has good slag cleaning effect, high efficiency, faster and easier.

3. Cleaning performance
You can see the live video of the two typesof machines on the 8KW fiber laser machine below. The performance is good or bad, very obvious.

4. Meet the requirements of different metal fabrication factories

Thanks to its excellent performance, it can meet the on-site needs of various metal fabrication factories. Refer to LSC-200 technical data.

Voltage: 220 VAC, Single phase

Frequency: 50/60 HZ
Rated power: 2300W It’s much more powerful even than Trumpf TSC100’s 1400W. That’s why LISEN LSC 200 can clean the slag on up to 30000W fiber laser cutting machines compared with TSC 100’s up to 6000W.
Idle Speed: 1400 r/min.
Weight: 25 KG
Max. Slag Thickness: 30 mm
Min. Distance between slats: 30 mm
Thickness of Slat: 2.5-6 mm
